Role Overview

This position is for an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor specializing in residential construction, working within the estimating team located in Auckland. The core responsibilities revolve around pre-construction estimating tasks, including tender pricing, managing client dialogues, and clarifying project scopes. It does not involve procurement or daily material ordering activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Carefully review architectural, structural, civil, and consultant documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist in generating cost estimates.
• Prepare tender pricing packages, quotation paperwork, and detailed pricing breakdowns.
• Engage directly with clients to discuss pricing, project scope, exclusions, and requirements.
• Solicit, analyze, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Support scope clarification, value engineering, and respond to pricing inquiries.
• Maintain well-organized, accurate estimating records.

Candidate Profile

• Experience or educational background in construction, quantity surveying, estimating, or related disciplines.
• Familiarity or keen interest in residential construction, terrace housing, or land development projects.
• Strong communication skills with confidence in client interactions.
• Fluent in Mandarin and/or Cantonese languages.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings.
• High attention to detail with solid numerical comprehension.
• Effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Competent in Excel and PlanSwift; knowledge of MS Project is a plus.

Prior experience in residential construction estimating is preferred but candidates demonstrating enthusiasm, excellent communication, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
