About the Role
Join a semiconductor engineering team as an entry-level data scientist focused on using analytics, machine learning, and AI to solve practical problems in product development, test optimization, quality assurance, and yield improvement. This position is well suited to recent graduates who want to apply data science in a high-volume manufacturing environment and help improve product reliability.
You will work closely with Product, Test, Quality, and Yield Engineering teams to examine production and test data, build predictive models, and identify insights that support process enhancement and better decision-making. The role also offers training, mentorship, and exposure to advanced semiconductor technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Study wafer sort, final test, and inline process datasets to spot patterns, unusual behavior, and possible root causes.
- Create statistical and machine learning models to forecast yield, flag outliers, and strengthen test coverage.
- Design dashboards and visual reports that track important metrics across product and test stages.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to convert data findings into practical process improvements.
- Build automation for data pipelines and reporting workflows that support continuous improvement efforts.
- Assist with quality investigations by applying data mining and correlation analysis.
- Develop innovative AI and machine learning solutions for complex, non-standard challenges.
- Work with cloud compute resources such as CPU and GPU environments for large-scale processing.
- Take advantage of training, mentoring, and guidance to grow professionally in the role.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a closely related discipline.
- A solid grounding in statistics, data analysis, and machine learning.
- Hands-on ability in Python or R, along with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and matplotlib.
- Comfort working with SQL and large database systems.
- Exposure to semiconductor manufacturing and test flows will be considered an added advantage.
- Experience with visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Plotly is beneficial.
- Capability to make sense of complex data and present conclusions clearly to engineering stakeholders.
- Strong analytical thinking, careful attention to detail, and a collaborative work style.
- Internship or academic work in manufacturing, electronics, or data analytics is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of generative AI concepts and how they can be applied.
- Exposure to large language models and how to incorporate them into data workflows.
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure and with big data tools.
