Metropolitan Demolitions Group (MDG), which includes Metropolitan Demolitions Pty Ltd and Metropolitan Demolitions & Recycling Pty Ltd, is a specialist demolition and civil services provider. The group offers hired plant, recycled, and reusable products to various industries and the public. Operating an EPA-licensed recycling plant in St Peters, NSW, MDG processes brick and concrete materials into recycled products and emphasizes safety, environmental responsibility, and efficient project completion. Team members play key roles in sustainable construction and resource recovery in the region.
Role Overview
The Engineer position, based full-time onsite in Sydney, NSW, supports demolition and civil projects from initial planning through to execution. The role involves developing and reviewing methodologies, preparing technical documents and drawings, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, and collaborating with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors. Site inspections, risk assessments, monitoring structural integrity during demolition, and contributing to improvements in recycling and plant operations are also key duties.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of civil or structural engineering principles, including demolition and construction methodologies.
- Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD and ability to interpret and create technical drawings.
- Familiarity with Australian safety standards, risk assessment procedures, and regulations pertaining to demolition, construction, and environmental compliance.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, site personnel, and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related fields; pursuing or holding professional engineering accreditation is preferred.
- Prior experience in demolition, civil construction, or recycling facilities is advantageous, along with knowledge of onsite plant and equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capability to work safely in active construction environments.
