Program Overview

We are eager to welcome two driven graduates into our two-year Graduate Programme. This immersive experience includes hands-on learning, mentorship, and rotations across key business areas. Over five distinct rotations, participants will gain a comprehensive perspective of New Zealand's energy market:

• Spot Trading: Understand the fundamentals of the NZ electricity wholesale spot market and how Genesis leverages generation assets while managing risk.
• Fuels Strategy: Explore fuel supply chains and their integration within the broader business framework.
• Derivatives Trading: Study the basics of derivatives in NZ electricity markets, focusing on futures, options, market drivers, and market-making responsibilities.
• Portfolio Management: Learn how Genesis manages its portfolio, interrelationships among assets, and decision-making and governance practices.
• Commodity Risk: Discover methods to identify, measure, and manage commodity market risks across Genesis’ portfolio.

Participants are expected to work primarily from our Auckland office, with occasional travel to our Hamilton location.

Candidate Requirements

• A recent or imminent graduate (within last or next 12 months) holding a tertiary qualification in a quantitative, analytical, engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities coupled with eagerness to learn and explore.
• Comfortable with technology and quick to adapt to new systems and tools.
• Legal eligibility to work permanently in New Zealand.
