About the Role

Join PwC New Zealand as an Employment Tax Manager based in Auckland and play a vital role in delivering expert employment tax advice. Collaborate within a skilled team handling diverse advisory and compliance projects including PAYE, FBT, and employee share scheme reporting. Work closely with clients to manage ongoing employment tax compliance and contribute to employment tax risk reviews as part of PwC's Inland Revenue accredited advisor status.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist in managing employment tax advisory and compliance engagements such as PAYE, FBT, and employee share scheme reporting of varying complexity.
  • Offer technically sound, well-researched guidance on remuneration, employee benefits, international workforce tax, and employer compliance.
  • Support tax reviews, voluntary disclosures, Inland Revenue interactions, and associated risk management activities.
  • Provide specialist advice relating to employee share schemes including tax structuring and reporting of equity-based rewards.
  • Contribute employment tax expertise to business restructures, transactions, and organizational changes.
  • Mentor juniors and delegate tasks to ensure effective delivery of advisory and compliance services.
  • Utilize AI and digital tools alongside PwC methodologies to enhance efficiency and client outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain trusted client relationships, identifying additional opportunities for employment tax and workforce-related advice.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least four years’ experienced in taxation within a professional services environment, including managing complex advisory engagements.
  • Strong familiarity with PAYE, FBT, employee share schemes, remuneration frameworks, or related workforce tax issues is highly valued.
  • Deep understanding of tax laws and practices either in New Zealand or comparable jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and complex tax projects.
  • Experience with business development and fostering client relationships.
  • International tax experience is an advantage when combined with New Zealand tax knowledge.
