We are looking for a skilled embedded Linux engineer passionate about cinematography to join our Wave team. This role offers the chance to contribute directly to groundbreaking professional camera systems in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary startup environment.

Role Overview

As part of our team, you will tackle key technical questions such as determining on-camera versus off-camera processing, selecting Linux variants, evaluating wireless chips, monitoring industry trends, and envisioning the future roadmap and features of scientific and professional cameras including pose tracking and augmented reality integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, validate, and deploy embedded Linux kernels tailored to product requirements.
• Develop, update, and if needed, write Linux drivers for camera hardware interfaces.
• Design a straightforward and responsive on-camera user interface.
• Write efficient, low-power software optimized for camera systems.
• Collaborate on system architecture including IO, GPU, CPU, storage, FPGA, and sensors.
• Adapt techniques from other industries like gaming and mobile to enhance cinematic video technology.
• Assess new hardware, software, and development tools for suitability.
• Implement deep learning to improve image quality and camera capabilities.
• Conduct research on materials, technologies, and processes to meet ambitious performance goals.
• Perform simulations, testing, and analyses to uphold product quality standards.
• Manage multiple projects at various development stages, ensuring timelines and milestones are met.
• Support cross-functional internal and external teams.
• Mentor colleagues and share knowledge to foster team growth.
• Document development processes and discoveries for team use.

Candidate Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming with excellent debugging skills.
• Expertise in embedded Linux kernel development, device drivers, and debugging.
• Experience with camera, imaging, and computer vision systems.
• Software development skills spanning hardware interaction, high-throughput data processing, algorithm design, and GUI programming.
• Focus on embedded systems with real-time constraints.
• Familiarity with serial communication protocols such as UART, I2C, CAN, and SPI.
• Hands-on experience using measurement and test instruments like oscilloscopes and data acquisition systems.
• Comfortable with version control tools.
• Preferred 5 or more years of industry experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability working with multidisciplinary teams managing projects and deadlines.
• A strong desire for continuous learning, iterative development, and solving problems from first principles.
• Intuitive decision-making skills to maintain agility and efficiency.

Compensation Details

• Annual salary range between 120000 and 180000 USD, depending on experience.
• Profit sharing and paid time off included alongside medical, dental, and vision benefits.
