About NHS Tayside Domestic Assistant Role

The Domestic Services Department is seeking Domestic Assistants to perform cleaning duties across the Perth & Kinross area, maintaining impeccable cleanliness in healthcare environments including wards, side rooms, operating theatres, offices, health centres, and GP practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, including potential lone working.
• Communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written forms.
• Handle unpredictable situations with composure and resilience under pressure.
• Accurately complete domestic-related documentation.
• Maintain awareness of health and safety as well as infection control practices relevant to the role.
• Perform tasks methodically and follow instructions precisely.
• Complete mandatory training courses, both online and in-person.
• Carry out duties safely and competently, involving walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting with the use of aids as needed.
• Adapt to working environments that may include busy clinical and non-clinical areas, increased heat, secure units, distressed patients, and potentially infectious settings.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, reliability, and responsibility at all times.
• Commit to learning and adapting continuously.
• Be willing to work at multiple NHS Tayside locations as required.

Additional Information

• All Domestic Assistants must complete the Health Care Support Workers Workbook to demonstrate competency.
• Employment requires adherence to NHS Code of Conduct.
• NHS Tayside verifies right to work status in the UK; this position is not eligible for skilled worker visa sponsorship.
