Director of Security

Role overview

A fast-scaling advanced technology company based in Florida is looking for a Director of Security to design, launch, and run its enterprise security function. The business is developing next-generation energy systems, and this role will be central to safeguarding sensitive technology, intellectual property, facilities, and employees in a dynamic engineering and manufacturing setting.

This position is well suited to a leader who enjoys creating security programs from the ground up and shaping them to support innovation, growth, and operational speed.

Key responsibilities

• Create and implement the organization’s end-to-end security strategy.
• Protect proprietary technologies, confidential data, and other mission-critical assets.
• Set up and manage physical security, access management, visitor controls, and personnel security practices.
• Work closely with engineering, operations, IT, and senior leadership to embed security into everyday business activities.
• Direct security risk reviews, response efforts during incidents, and investigations when required.
• Develop security workflows and controls that can scale as the company grows.
• Help prepare the company for future regulatory and compliance obligations tied to licensed nuclear operations.

Experience and requirements

• At least 10 years of experience leading security programs in aerospace, defense, nuclear, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or other industries with strong intellectual property sensitivity.
• Hands-on experience securing sensitive technologies, trade secrets, and business-critical information.
• Solid knowledge of physical security, information protection, and enterprise risk management.
• Ability to maintain strong security standards without slowing business execution.
• Experience creating or expanding a security function in a high-growth environment is strongly preferred.
