Role Overview

As the Director of Project Management based in Houston, TX, you will spearhead the project management function across our EPC portfolio. Your responsibilities include ensuring project execution excellence, client satisfaction, adherence to timelines, budget compliance, and margin achievements. You will collaborate closely with engineering, construction, project controls, supply chain, and field leaders, reporting directly to the Vice President of Project Management.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the project management teams to apply uniform standards, tools, and best practices on all EPC projects.
• Define clear performance expectations related to scope, cost, schedule, risk, and client communications for project managers.
• Collaborate with pre-construction and commercial teams to facilitate smooth project handoffs, ensuring clear scope and risk alignment.
• Oversee active projects by reviewing cost, schedule, risk, and forecasting metrics.
• Promote disciplined project execution using standardized startup, monitoring, and closeout processes.
• Assist in resolving complex issues such as scope changes, client disputes, scheduling challenges, and risks.
• Coordinate with field and construction leadership to align project planning with execution on site.
• Work with supply chain to optimize procurement, vendor relations, and material availability.
• Implement consistent change management to safeguard contractual and commercial positions.
• Emphasize safety, quality, and regulatory compliance as core project principles.
• Develop and evaluate project management personnel, fostering growth and performance.
• Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and enhancing processes.
• Act as an escalation contact for customers and internal stakeholders regarding projects.
• Complete additional special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years’ project management experience in an EPC environment such as utilities, power, or industrial sectors.
• Proven leadership in managing teams overseeing complex EPC projects.
• Deep knowledge of EPC contracts, risk allocation, and execution drivers.
• Experience managing full project lifecycles: engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Competency in cost, schedule, and risk management methodologies.
• Familiarity working with project controls on forecasts and performance metrics.
• Knowledge of project management software, dashboards, and reporting tools.
• Ability to interpret contracts, scope, and implement change management procedures.
• Financial acumen related to cost forecasting, margin control, and cash flow management.
• Strong skills in managing client relationships and handling high-level project negotiations.
• Cross-functional leadership experience directing teams from engineering, construction, and supply chain.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting project status to executives and clients.
• Ability to make decisive judgments and enforce accountability in fast-paced settings.

Physical and Work Conditions

• Ability to work prolonged periods at a computer and attend meetings.

• Occasional field visits requiring walking on uneven, gravel, and graded surfaces common in substation construction.
• Comfort navigating active construction zones including stairs, ramps, and temporary walkways.
• Capability to climb stairs or ladders to access elevated areas occasionally.
• Willingness to use personal protective equipment, such as hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, flame-resistant clothing, and hearing protection.
• Occasional extended work hours including weekends may be required.
