Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Director of Human Resources & Payroll to join our team full-time at our Greater Orlando location. This hands-on leader will oversee all HR functions, benefits administration, and payroll management, serving as the primary HR contact for both employees and leadership. This role blends operational tasks with strategic initiatives including policy development, process enhancements, and workforce advisory.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle payroll across multiple states via ADP, ensuring timely and accurate payment to employees
- Audit timecards, commissions, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, payroll taxes, and relevant reports
- Manage employee benefit programs including enrollments, terminations, qualifying life events, open enrollment periods, and employee queries
- Handle onboarding and offboarding processes, conduct background checks, verify employment, and maintain employee records
- Address employee relations issues, conduct workplace investigations, manage performance concerns, administer corrective actions, and oversee terminations
- Advise managers on HR policies, performance management, documentation procedures, and employment best practices
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and payroll regulations applicable to multiple states
- Administer paid time off, leaves of absence, workers’ compensation claims, and unemployment claims
- Develop, implement, and ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures
- Maintain confidential and accurate employee data within ADP
- Collaborate with executive leadership on workforce planning, employee retention, organizational development, and fostering a positive company culture
- Prepare and provide payroll and labor-related reports to accounting and senior management
Required Qualifications
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in human resources, including leadership roles
- Proven expertise managing full-cycle payroll with ADP
- Experience in administering employee benefits and managing annual open enrollment events
- Background supporting a geographically dispersed workforce of 200+ employees
- Strong generalist skills covering the entire employee life cycle
- Demonstrated ability in handling sensitive employee relations matters such as investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and payroll laws
- Current HR professional certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR)
- Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to preserve confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Capacity to work autonomously, manage priorities, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll certification such as CPP or FPC
- Experience in industries like manufacturing, retail, warehouse, delivery, or multi-location operations
- Familiarity with commission-based compensation structures
- Previous success in enhancing HR and payroll processes within expanding organizations
