Job description

Overview

The Digital Monitoring & Intelligence Officer at Dangote Industries Limited is tasked with overseeing the company's digital footprint by analyzing online conversations, media mentions, search trends, and audience sentiment. This role transforms digital data into actionable reputation intelligence, helping to identify emerging risks such as misinformation, impersonation, and cyber-squatting. The officer will support crisis management through timely escalation and detailed reporting to safeguard the Group’s reputation.

Key Duties

  • Continuously track online platforms including news sites, social media, blogs, forums, and search engines to gather mentions relating to the Group, its business units, leaders, products, and significant issues.
  • Analyze the sentiment, trending themes, reach, and urgency of digital conversations to differentiate routine commentary from critical reputation concerns.
  • Compile and deliver concise intelligence reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, and event-specific basis highlighting key narratives, stakeholders, risks, opportunities, and recommendations for communication strategies.
  • Identify early signs of digital risks—such as misinformation, fake profiles, impersonation, cyber-squatting, and coordinated negative campaigns—with proper documentation of evidence.
  • Follow established escalation protocols to promptly report high-risk findings to the Group Head of New Media and other relevant parties, maintaining accurate logs of issues and escalations.
  • Assist in crisis communication efforts by providing real-time monitoring, updates, and post-event analyses during emergencies, major announcements, and high-visibility periods.
  • Monitor digital activity of competitors, industry sectors, and stakeholders to spot communication trends, benchmark best practices, and pinpoint emerging reputational challenges.
  • Manage and refine monitoring setups including searches, dashboards, taxonomies, and reports to ensure reliable data quality and uniform interpretation of metrics.

Candidate Profile

  • Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Data Analytics, Research, Social Sciences, Information Management, or a closely related field.
  • Candidates should have at least 4 years of hands-on experience in social listening, media monitoring, digital research, reputation intelligence, communications analytics, or equivalent disciplines.
  • Practical knowledge of social listening, media monitoring, search, and analytics platforms is required.
  • Proficiency in sentiment, narrative, trend, and issue evaluation for reputation risk assessment and timely escalation is essential.
  • Strong skills in dashboard creation, data analysis, and insightful reporting, complemented by fact-checking, source verification, and evidence documentation.
  • Understanding the dynamics of misinformation, impersonation, and cyber-squatting threats is crucial.
  • Competency in using monitoring and analytics software as well as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data handling and presentation.
  • Excellent written communication abilities to prepare clear executive summaries and manage confidential information with discretion.
