About the Role

At Crate & Barrel, Designers help customers explore the latest trends in home design, assisting with everything from full home furnishings to individual accent pieces. They combine deep design knowledge with digital tools to create personalized design solutions through in-store and in-home consultations. The Designer role focuses on increasing sales and customer engagement by promoting programs, managing leads, and maintaining an active presence on the sales floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive sales growth and enhance customer experiences through engaging, elevated design consultations both in-store and virtually.
• Create detailed design concepts, including moodboards, 2D and 3D floor plans, product lists, and presentations using preferred design tools.
• Lead design consultations in store, at customers' homes, or via remote channels such as phone, email, or video conferencing.
• Manage projects efficiently to meet deadlines and deliver quality outcomes.
• Maintain a deep understanding of brand aesthetics and merchandising strategies across multiple channels including store, e-commerce, and catalog.
• Stay knowledgeable about product details, care instructions, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
• Achieve individual sales targets, key performance indicators, and productivity standards while actively engaging with customers on the sales floor.
• Listen attentively to customer needs to recommend suitable products and effectively communicate loyalty programs and services.
• Exemplify excellent service with a positive, enthusiastic attitude ensuring prompt, courteous assistance.
• Support sales floor training initiatives to enhance understanding of design services and offerings.
• Build lasting client relationships through networking and clienteling efforts.
• Apply foundational design skills including spatial planning, fabric selection, lighting, and knowledge of various interior design styles.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, translating brand vision and customer requirements clearly.
• Utilize technology effectively, including 2D/3D design software, Google Suite, video conferencing, and iPad for floor planning and presentations.
• Stay current with evolving design trends and adapt proactively to business changes.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of one year experience in furniture sales, home decor design, or relevant retail/customer service roles.
• Proven ability to work directly with clients and offer tailored design solutions.
• Experience using digital design tools and Google platforms; virtual communication skills preferred.
• Passion for design with understanding of spatial planning, fabric and lighting selection, and interior styles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster enduring client relationships.
