Role Overview

The Critical Facilities Technician will be a vital member of our Operations team, maintaining some of the industry’s most efficient and cost-effective data center infrastructure. The role entails working closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to perform maintenance and repairs, ensuring uninterrupted service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain facility systems including electrical, mechanical, building monitoring, and control infrastructure.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are executed with thorough planning, preparation, and high-quality reporting.
  • Maintain infrastructure reliability emphasizing service continuity and energy efficiency.
  • Utilize the Building Management System (BMS) along with regular site inspections to verify all systems operate correctly.
  • Work assigned shifts wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Within certification and regulation limits, manipulate electrical, mechanical, or security infrastructure to protect people, property, and maintain service continuity.
  • Collaborate with IT and Controls teams for BMS operation.
  • Partner with contractors to develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules, monitor risk, and document activities.
  • Manage service providers and suppliers, ensuring risk mitigation, cleanliness standards, accurate reporting, and use of CMMS and Change Management processes.
  • Perform required repairs and small project implementations to improve system reliability.
  • Participate in crisis management planning, testing, and site audits assessing service continuity and risk analysis.

Requirements

  • Technical qualifications at advanced technician or engineer level in electricity (generators, UPS, low voltage distribution), climate, or cooling systems.
  • Experience operating data centers or similar critical environments.
  • Broad technical expertise in operation, maintenance, and inspection of critical systems.
  • Proficient in English at the B1 intermediate level for communication and understanding everyday topics.
  • Familiarity with fire protection, physical security systems (access control, video, intrusion detection), or central building management systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Motivated problem solver with great attention to detail and commitment to follow-up actions.
  • Good writing capabilities and everyday use of standard office technology.
  • Experienced with BMS software and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
  • Capable of lifting and moving objects both vertically and horizontally.
  • Comfortable working under or around raised floors of varying heights.
