Role overview

DHL Express is seeking a dependable, customer-oriented Courier for its North Wales Service Centre in Chester. This permanent role is based onsite at CH1 6LT and runs Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 18:00, including a 30-minute break. The position sits on the frontline of service delivery, with responsibility for both shipments and customer experience.

What you will do

You will be responsible for collecting and delivering shipments, keeping to customer expectations and time-sensitive service commitments. You will manage your own route, stay organised across the day, and adapt when operational needs change.

• Complete deliveries and collections within agreed service times and customer requirements.
• Represent DHL in a professional manner and help deliver a consistent service experience.
• Develop good relationships with customers and look for ways to support the business.
• Stay proactive, courteous, and focused on customer satisfaction throughout the day.
• Plan and prioritise daily work to finish all scheduled stops on time.
• Adjust routes and workloads as needed to match operational changes.
• Work efficiently under pressure while meeting tight deadlines and service standards.
• Keep accurate records and maintain strong organisation and attention to detail.
• Perform vehicle checks and ensure shipments are loaded, handled, and transported safely.
• Record working hours and driving hours correctly in line with regulations.
• Follow DHL policies, procedures, and security requirements at all times.
• Handle items of different sizes and weights in line with manual handling guidance.
• Make sure all documentation and data entry are completed accurately.

The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable dealing with customers directly. You should be able to manage your own workload, respond quickly to change, and communicate clearly with both customers and colleagues. • Experience in a customer-facing or delivery-based role; multi-drop experience is an advantage.
• Strong route planning ability and good knowledge of geography.
• Clear communication and practical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle the physical demands of the job.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to obtain or already hold a digital tachograph card.

• Contract type: Permanent.
