Role overview
Redwire Defense Tech is hiring a Continuous Improvement Manager to champion operational excellence across the business. This role focuses on improving efficiency, strengthening quality, lowering waste, and building a company-wide mindset of continuous improvement. The position works closely with teams across the organization to spot process gaps, introduce practical and lasting solutions, and apply Lean methods, root cause analysis, and data-based decision-making. It also includes leading Lean training efforts, driving major improvement projects, tracking performance indicators, and making sure initiatives produce measurable outcomes aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Drive major initiatives that raise efficiency, quality, and productivity across operations.
- Pinpoint workflow constraints and put durable fixes in place to improve performance.
- Run Lean workshops, value stream mapping activities, and continuous improvement projects.
- Review operational data and trends to find opportunities to cut costs and remove waste.
- Own root cause analysis and corrective actions for repeated problems.
- Work with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to improve processes and handoffs.
- Create and monitor KPIs to evaluate the impact of improvement efforts.
- Document standard methods and help ensure consistent use across departments.
- Coach and train employees on Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
- Share project outcomes, recommendations, and improvement roadmaps with leadership.
- Help build a workplace culture centered on accountability, problem-solving, and operational excellence.
- Take on additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- At least 4 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, or a similar continuous improvement role.
- Hands-on experience using and teaching Kaizen, A3 problem solving, and Poka Yoke methods.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with a willingness to collaborate closely with others.
- Ability to read, interpret, and draft technical drawings.
- Capability to guide and mentor an engineering team.
- Demonstrated success in standardizing, simplifying, and continuously improving core business processes.
- Strong project management capability, including leading complex efforts to successful completion.
- Preferred: leadership and mentoring experience.
- Preferred: certification in Continuous Improvement such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt.
- Preferred: experience preparing and presenting technical updates to leadership.
- Preferred: familiarity with composite structures and processes such as prepreg hand layup, wet hand layup, finishing, trimming, and tooling.

FLSA status: Exempt
Compensation: The expected annual pay for this role is between $132,100 and $154,100. This estimate is based on the targeted level for the position and typical market benchmarks across the U.S. Final pay may differ depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, and internal pay considerations.
Clearance requirements
This position may involve access to information covered by ITAR and/or EAR rules. To meet those requirements, applicants may need to provide documentation confirming U.S. person status under those regulations.
Work environment and physical demands
The role may include a standard office setting as well as time in a production environment. It requires regular use of office equipment and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while maintaining focus despite interruptions. Occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending may be needed. Good vision is necessary for reading documents and computer screens, while hearing and speaking are important for communication in person and by phone. Travel by air or car may be required. Personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats may be necessary. The role may require lifting up to 30 pounds.
