CNC Vertical Turning Lathe Operator (5 Meter)

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled operator experienced in handling a 5-meter CNC Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) to independently machine large diameter parts. The position demands proficiency in CNC machining techniques, precision measurement, tooling selection, and machine upkeep, all while consistently delivering high-quality outcomes and adhering to safety protocols.

Key Duties

• Operate and supervise the 5-meter CNC VTL for manufacturing tasks.
• Carry out setup of workpieces, fixtures, jaws, and cutting tools aligned with job specifications.
• Interpret engineering blueprints and machining process documentation accurately.
• Load CNC programs and make basic edits to these programs when necessary.
• Choose suitable cutting tools and fine-tune machining parameters for efficiency.
• Machine components such as large rings, slewing bearings, gear blanks, and heavy fabricated items while maintaining dimensional tolerance.
• Conduct in-process inspections employing precise measuring devices.
• Guarantee quality standards, including dimensional accuracy and surface finish, are met consistently.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth workflow.
• Keep machinery clean and perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to safety guidelines, especially when using cranes and lifting apparatus for heavy parts.
• Log production metrics and report any discrepancies or concerns regarding machining or quality immediately.
