Role overview
Writer Information is hiring an Assistant General Manager level Chief Security Officer for its head office in Mumbai, Marol, with responsibility across India. This role reports to the Business Head - SSS and requires an experienced security leader with a disciplined, strategic approach to protecting people, records, information assets, infrastructure, warehouses, and secure storage locations. The position involves extensive travel, close coordination with facility teams and senior leadership, and a strong focus on operational control and risk reduction.
Security strategy and governance
- Create and roll out a physical security framework for all Indian sites.
- Set up security policies, SOPs, crisis plans, and contingency measures.
- Carry out regular risk reviews and vulnerability checks.
- Promote security consciousness across the organization.
- Lead audits and compliance assessments related to enterprise security.
Facility and asset protection
- Supervise security operations at records centers, document repositories, and secure storage units.
- Protect confidential client records, sensitive papers, and information assets.
- Design controls for access, visitors, material movement, and perimeter protection.
- Ensure round-the-clock security coverage across all locations.
- Improve warehouse security standards, storage integrity, and asset safeguarding.
Risk management and investigations
- Track new and evolving threats that could affect business operations.
- Investigate theft, pilferage, fraud, unauthorized entry, and other security incidents.
- Analyze root causes and put preventive actions in place.
- Build structured incident reporting processes.
- Prepare risk evaluation reports for senior management.
Security systems and surveillance
- Oversee CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, alarm monitoring, and visitor management systems.
- Also ensure fire and life safety systems are deployed and maintained.
- Promote technology-driven security improvements across facilities.
- Review the performance of security systems and vendors.
Crisis response and business continuity
- Develop emergency response plans for fires, natural disasters, security events, and operational disruptions.
- Lead crisis response and incident management teams.
- Run mock drills and preparedness exercises on a regular basis.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery efforts.
Stakeholder and authority liaison
- Maintain working relationships with local police and fire departments.
- Handle investigations and other statutory security matters.
Team leadership and administration
- Guide and mentor regional security teams across multiple states.
- Define performance benchmarks and training programs.
- Manage outsourced security vendors and related contracts.
- Perform periodic inspections and surprise audits.
- Continuously improve security operations and standards.
Candidate profile
The preferred candidate is an ex-armed forces officer or equivalent paramilitary officer, ideally from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, or CAPF/paramilitary background, with around 20+ years of experience in security operations, administration, intelligence, risk management, and asset protection. Experience handling multi-location security across India is essential. Prior work in logistics, warehousing, records management, secure storage, manufacturing, infrastructure, or large-scale facilities management will be an advantage.
Eligibility
Applicants should be graduates in any discipline. People with security management, industrial security, or disaster management certification will have an added advantage. Candidates should have strong knowledge of physical security systems, investigations, and crisis management. The role is suitable for professionals who have managed pan-India security operations, preferably from a logistics or supply chain background, and who are willing to relocate or work from Mumbai.
Location and travel
The role is based at the Head Office in Mumbai, Marol, with pan-India responsibility. Regular travel to facilities, warehouses, and secure storage centers across several states is required.
