Role overview
Civeo Australia is hiring a Carpenter to join its Asset and Facilities Maintenance team supporting remote accommodation villages across regional Queensland. The position is anchored from the Coppabella village and involves working in the field across multiple sites on a 7 days on / 7 days off roster. FIFO and DIDO arrangements are both available.
This is a practical, hands-on maintenance role focused on keeping village buildings and infrastructure safe, functional, and compliant. The work covers reactive fixes, scheduled upkeep, preventative servicing, carpentry repairs, small construction tasks, and layout preparation aligned with building regulations.
The company is expanding and is offering a setting where the successful applicant can build experience, grow professionally, and contribute to long-term improvement of the villages.
Key duties
- Deliver reactive, scheduled, and preventative carpentry maintenance across village assets.
- Identify faults and complete repairs on buildings and supporting infrastructure.
- Perform general construction, repair, and refurbishment work as required.
- Review drawings, specifications, and work instructions to plan tasks accurately.
- Prepare layouts and materials in line with applicable building codes.
- Ensure all work meets legal, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Keep maintenance records and work-order documentation accurate and up to date.
- Work with contractors and suppliers on repairs and installation tasks.
- Assist with broader maintenance needs across village facilities.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and professional condition.
- Support a strong safety culture and consistently follow safe work procedures.
- Be available for on-call or after-hours duties during rostered swings.
About you
You should have a Carpentry trade qualification, a current manual Class C driver’s licence, and practical experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work. Previous exposure to remote village operations, mining environments, or high-volume service settings will be viewed favourably.
Success in this role also requires a solid grasp of building codes, safety and compliance standards, the ability to interpret technical drawings and documents, and confidence using maintenance systems and managing work orders. Strong organisation, prioritisation, teamwork, and communication skills are important. You must also be able to pass a pre-employment medical, obtain a National Police Clearance, and hold valid working rights in Australia.
