About the Role
The Strategy, Performance & Treaty Partnerships (SPTP) directorate is seeking a skilled Business Adviser on a fixed-term or secondment contract until June 2027, based in Wellington. This role involves close collaboration with the Director and Chief Adviser to the Deputy Director-General (DDG), providing critical support and ensuring that senior-level advice, reports, and briefings are strategic, coherent, and consistently high quality. The adviser will serve as a vital coordination point within the directorate, fostering clear priorities, workflows, and cohesive outputs.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes offering insightful analysis, coordination, governance, and communications support; identifying risks and opportunities; improving deliverables quality; and supporting smooth operations of the DDG BNZ Office and SPTP directorate by maintaining continuity and responsiveness.
Candidate Profile
We seek an experienced, dependable adviser comfortable with fast-paced, complex settings, ideally with knowledge of public sector and executive office operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and structured thinking, excellent communication, and proven ability to produce high-quality written materials while supporting senior leaders effectively.

The Performance team works across the branch to enhance Biosecurity New Zealand's strategic capabilities and operational performance by integrating measurement, reporting, governance, and planning systems.
