Building Custodian II – P.M.

About the Role

The position involves performing custodial maintenance and cleaning duties within the school premises to ensure the school building and grounds are well-maintained and sanitary. This includes semi-skilled tasks to uphold cleanliness and maintenance standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain the school building and surrounding grounds in good condition.
• Clean various fixtures including light fixtures, windows, walls, furniture, bleachers, blinds, and stadium seating.
• Use specialized equipment for scrubbing, buffing, and waxing floors.
• Sanitize and restock assigned restrooms.
• Prepare for and clean up after school events held during the day or evenings.
• Operate carpet cleaning and maintenance machinery.
• Relocate furniture and equipment as directed by the head custodian or principal.
• Maintain outdoor areas, including shrubs, lawns, parking lots, and driveways.

Additional Duties

• Respond promptly to staff requests or concerns.
• Perform minor repairs as needed.
• Carry out other tasks assigned by the Building Custodian III, Principal, or School Operations Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

Certifications

• No certification required; willingness to attend additional training when directed is necessary.

Experience

• At least one year of custodial experience is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of cleaning methods, sanitation standards, and proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Knowledge of maintenance and cleaning techniques for heating and ventilation systems.
• Familiarity with safety rules and regulations relevant to custodial work.
• Ability to operate floor and carpet cleaning equipment effectively.
• Capability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

Working Conditions

• Regular exposure to various weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, and damp environments.

Physical Demands

• Frequent ladder climbing and physical activities such as pushing and pulling.
• Strength and dexterity to handle custodial equipment.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull weights exceeding 75 pounds.
• Capability to stand, crouch, and climb ladders as required for manual labor tasks.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $18.50.
