BI Platforms Administrator (Power BI, Tableau Cloud & Sigma)

Overview

BAPON Technologies is looking for a skilled BI Platforms Administrator to take charge of managing and enhancing our enterprise Business Intelligence tools including Power BI, Tableau Cloud, and Sigma. This key position involves overseeing platform administration, governance, security, architecture, migration initiatives, and operational excellence to provide dependable, scalable, and secure analytics environments for business users.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain enterprise BI environments including Power BI Service, Tableau Cloud, legacy Tableau Server, and Sigma analytics platforms.
• Handle configurations for workspaces, sites, projects, permissions, user access controls such as Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS), certified datasets, refresh schedules, and data connections.
• Set up and maintain Power BI Gateways, Tableau Bridge, scheduled data refreshes, and secure integrations.
• Continuously monitor platform performance, capacity, licensing compliance, user adoption, and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability.
• Lead and support migration activities moving from Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud, including inventory, content cleanup, user mapping, and cutover planning to minimize business impact.
• Design, develop, and optimize Power BI semantic models, datasets, dataflows, dashboards, and reports.
• Enhance dashboard performance, usability, accessibility, and scalability, and uphold data visualization best practices across Power BI, Tableau, and Sigma.
• Administer DevOps processes by integrating GitHub for Power BI (.pbip) project management, establishing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Power BI Deployment Pipelines, and managing version control workflows.
• Create automation scripts utilizing PowerShell or Python, and employ Power BI and Tableau REST APIs to automate administrative and operational tasks.
• Define and implement comprehensive governance and security policies, including data sensitivity labels, auditing, DLP, and collaborate with Security and IT teams to integrate identity management using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Single Sign-On.
• Promote best practices through supporting the BI Center of Excellence by delivering training, guidance, documentation, and user enablement programs while acting as the subject matter expert.
• Evaluate current BI architectures and recommend scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that support legacy system retirement and modernization efforts in collaboration with Data Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 to 10 years’ experience in Business Intelligence platform administration, BI analytics engineering, or architecture roles.
• Proven ability managing Power BI Service, Tableau Cloud, Tableau Server, and Sigma platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience in Power BI development covering DAX, Power Query (M), dataflows, semantic modeling, deployment pipelines, and XMLA endpoints.
• Skilled with Tableau Cloud and Server administration, including site and project management, extracts, scheduling, permissions, and data connectivity.
• Successful experience with migrating Tableau Server environments to Tableau Cloud and configuring Tableau Bridge for secure access.
• Familiarity with Sigma Analytics platform operations.
• Practical knowledge of implementing GitHub-based source control and continuous integration/delivery pipelines for BI solutions.
• Deep understanding of governance and security controls such as RLS, OLS, sensitivity labels, auditing, and Data Loss Prevention.
• Experience integrating BI platforms with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Single Sign-On for identity management.
• Proficient scripting skills with PowerShell and Python for automation tasks.
• Competence in utilizing Power BI and Tableau REST APIs to enhance platform operations.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication abilities to collaborate with stakeholders.

Preferred Expertise

• Experience designing enterprise-wide BI platform architectures and implementing BI governance frameworks.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform with a focus on Power Automate integration.
• Familiarity with emerging Microsoft Fabric technologies.
• Experience working with data platforms like Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar technologies.
• Exposure to Agile, DevOps, and DataOps methodologies supporting large-scale analytics deployments with thousands of users.
• Certifications in Power BI, Tableau, or Sigma are advantageous.
