Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site Back End Developer position in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. The role focuses on creating, improving, and supporting the server-side systems and APIs that enable web and mobile products to function smoothly.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain backend application logic that can handle growth and performance demands.
- Build and connect APIs, databases, and outside services to support product features.
- Write code that is clear, reliable, and easy to test.
- Investigate and resolve issues affecting speed, stability, and overall system quality.
- Work closely with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to clarify needs and shape technical solutions.
- Support releases and deployments, including participation in code reviews.
- Apply secure coding practices and help strengthen development processes and documentation.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in backend web development and server-side programming.
- Practical knowledge of software development workflows such as version control, testing, and debugging.
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and common design patterns.
- Exposure to front-end development basics to collaborate effectively across the stack.
- Experience using relational databases and/or NoSQL databases, including data modelling.
- Working knowledge of RESTful API design, integration, and documentation.
- Awareness of security, performance tuning, and scalability considerations for backend systems.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team in an on-site setting.
- Experience with cloud services, containers, or CI/CD workflows will be an advantage.
