Role Overview

The Production Finance team at Netflix plays a pivotal role in enabling creators to produce exceptional content by collaborating with filmmakers and production partners. This team ensures financial discipline, operational excellence, and prudent management of production investments.

This role offers an opportunity to engage deeply in the nexus of finance, production, and strategy, supporting Netflix Originals in India by partnering with internal teams and external production companies to guide financial decisions from initial development through final delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with production companies, line producers, production accountants, auditors, and Netflix internal teams at every phase of a production.
• Establish and nurture reliable relationships with creative, legal, business affairs, tax, accounts payable, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless financial processes.
• Provide guidance to production partners on Netflix’s financial policies, reporting standards, and finance procedures.
• Analyze production budgets, cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts thoroughly.
• Monitor expenditure against approved budgets, identifying financial risks, emerging trends, and opportunities promptly.
• Work with productions to create accurate Estimates to Complete (ETCs) and final cost forecasts.
• Conduct variance analyses and deliver insightful communications that facilitate business decisions.
• Verify the accuracy and compliance of invoices, funding requests, and production payments.
• Identify cost optimization opportunities and enhance operational efficiency beyond just validating figures.
• Examine production schedules, resource allocations, and spending trends to flag potential financial risks and recommend improvements.
• Prepare concise financial summaries and presentations for internal stakeholders supporting investment choices.
• Classify production costs in line with Netflix’s Chart of Accounts and maintain precise financial records.
• Update and maintain production data within Netflix’s internal financial and reporting systems.
• Collaborate with auditors and production accountants to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
• Contribute to enhancements in reporting processes, financial controls, and operational procedures across productions.

Candidate Profile

• Possess at least seven years of experience in Production Finance, Production Accounting, Production Management, or related roles within film, TV, or media sectors.
• Demonstrate strong proficiency in production budgeting, cost reporting, forecasting, and accounting.
• Have a background working with production companies, studios, line producers, or production accountants.
• Exhibit superior financial analysis, problem-solving acumen, and excellent business judgment.
• Command advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Google Workspace; experience with production accounting software is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Tally or similar accounting software is desirable.
• Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills to influence cross-functional teams.
• Maintain a keen eye for detail while keeping sight of overarching goals.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field; professional qualifications such as CA are preferred.
