Role Overview
As Associate Director – Water Infrastructure based in Hamilton, New Zealand, you will lead technical and project delivery efforts across the Waikato region, focusing on critical water supply, wastewater, and stormwater projects. Leveraging international expertise combined with local knowledge, you will drive innovative and sustainable outcomes while contributing to shaping the future water sector amid significant industry changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for complex three waters infrastructure projects, ensuring design quality, governance, and technical approvals.
- Develop and maintain strong client partnerships with local government bodies, water service entities, and other key stakeholders in Hamilton and Waikato.
- Promote technical excellence by managing design standards, project risk, and commercial results in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Utilize AECOM's extensive national and global water network to deliver best-in-class solutions for local clients.
- Mentor and guide engineering professionals while supporting AECOM’s water business growth across the region.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 15 years of experience in planning, designing, and delivering water supply, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects, preferably within New Zealand.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation or equivalent international recognition supported by a relevant engineering degree.
- Proven ability to build and sustain senior-level client relationships and networks within the Hamilton, Waikato, and local government sectors.
- In-depth understanding of New Zealand water infrastructure standards, regional market dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
- Commercial acumen and insight into the evolving water sector, including the establishment of new water service entities.
