Job Overview

The Assistant Manager - Logistics will oversee all logistics operations for substation infrastructure projects within the Middle East region. This role includes managing the transport of critical electrical components, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating with project stakeholder teams, and maintaining efficient supply chain processes to deliver materials on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Formulate and execute comprehensive logistics strategies tailored for substation projects covering electrical equipment like transformers, GIS, switchgear, control panels, and cables.
Supervise inbound and outbound shipments from suppliers to various project sites, both locally and internationally.
Guarantee delivery of project materials aligning with construction timelines and requirements.
Oversee freight forwarders, shipping companies, transport contractors, and customs agents to streamline supply chain operations.
Track the transit of materials from manufacturing plants to installation sites while optimizing transportation expenditure.
Maintain logistics performance indicators and produce relevant operational reports.
Ensure strict adherence to customs and import/export regulations per UAE and GCC laws, managing necessary documentation and liaising with authorized agencies and free zone authorities as needed.
Manage warehouse operations including inventory control, proper storage, handling of electrical components, regular audits, and maintaining adequate stock levels.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Procurement personnel, Site Supervisors, and vendors to support ongoing project execution, ensuring material availability and mitigating logistics-related risks.
Prepare logistics budgets, monitor associated costs, and implement strategies to reduce expenses without compromising safety or quality.
Promote compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies during logistics processes, ensuring all transportation and handling activities meet project and company standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Certifications such as CSCP, CPL, CILT, or PMP are favorable and considered an asset.
An extensive background of 8 to 15 years in logistics and supply chain functions with at least 5 years focusing on electrical transmission, power sector, EPC, or substation-related projects.
Proven experience managing logistics operations within the Middle East and GCC regions.
Expertise in handling large, heavy cargo such as transformers and GIS components.
Familiarity with Incoterms, customs protocols, international freight forwarding, and project execution workflows.
Hands-on experience with ERP platforms like SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and logistics reporting.
