Assistant Director (Digital)

Role Overview

This position involves contributing to the conception of future defence strategies with a focus on digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI), coupled with overseeing the strategic planning of research, development, and experimental projects aimed at pioneering transformative defence initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and advance innovative defence concepts.
• Lead and coordinate R&D and experimental projects to bring future concepts to fruition.
• Collaborate effectively with Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) and Defence Science Organisation (DSO).
• Manage relationships with both local and international stakeholders.
• Keep abreast of emerging technology trends relevant to defence.
• Spot and develop partnership opportunities domestically and abroad.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and oversee the implementation of projects.

Challenges

• Justifying breakthrough concepts that require shifts in mindset, lengthy realization timelines, and encompass technical and programmatic risks.
• Staying updated with rapidly evolving technological developments.
• Recognising and leveraging collaboration prospects both locally and internationally.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of six years’ professional experience in technical domains; experience in digital technologies and AI is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Effective time management.
• Highly driven and able to maintain performance under pressure.
