Role overview
Walshe Group is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its Auckland finance team and report to the Finance Manager. This is a varied role with exposure to both Australian and New Zealand entities, as well as client-facing outsourced finance work for airline, tourism and travel customers.
The position goes beyond routine transactional work. You will support month-end close, reconciliations and reporting, while also contributing to projects, process improvements and broader business initiatives. It is suited to someone early in their accounting career who wants practical multi-entity experience in a fast-moving SME environment.
Key responsibilities
Your main focus will be accounting support across the group and its clients, with an emphasis on month-end activity, reconciliations and reporting. You may also take part in systems improvement work and other business projects as needed.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong grounding in accounting principles, solid Excel ability and experience using an ERP or cloud-based accounting platform. The role also calls for good communication, organisation, analytical thinking and attention to detail.
Candidates should be either studying toward CA ANZ or CPA, or planning to begin one of those programs. Japanese language ability would be beneficial because of the client mix.
