Position Overview

Join the Department of Labor & Industry as an Architectural Designer 1, playing a key role in designing, updating, and organizing state-owned and leased facilities. This opportunity offers hands-on experience with architectural workflows, collaboration with professionals, and contributing to renovation planning to enhance agency operations.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in managing renovation projects, participate in design meetings, and conduct site visits.
Prepare floor plans and necessary specifications for minor projects ensuring compliance with requirements.
Design office layouts utilizing AutoCAD and support document preparation for leased facility projects.
Coordinate efforts across various stakeholders including lessors, contractors, architects, engineers, DGS, and program offices.
Collaborate with maintenance staff on renovations for L and I Buildings and assist with disposition of surplus facilities.
Maintain electronic building plans and convert physical plans into CAD formats.

Work Schedule and Additional Details

Full-time role with work hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, including a one-hour lunch break.
Opportunity for part-time telework requires a secure high-speed internet connection and an approved location within Pennsylvania. Telework availability may change and further information will be provided during interviews.
Starting salary may be fixed and non-negotiable in some cases.

Experience and Eligibility Requirements

Successful completion of an Architectural Designer Trainee program; or
At least one year of professional architectural experience related to design of commercial, institutional, or educational structures complemented by a bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, or related discipline with major coursework in architectural design; or
An equivalent combination of architectural design experience and formal training.
Residency within Pennsylvania is required to meet eligibility guidelines.
Capability to perform essential job functions.
