Role Overview

SGR is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their Riyadh team driving daily financial recording and reconciliation for refining operations. This role ensures precise ledger management, supports monthly financial closings, and complies with Saudi tax laws. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Accountant is vital for producing timely financial statements reflecting refining costs and bullion inventory valuation.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger by posting accurate journal entries related to refining costs, bullion inventory changes, and corporate expenses.
• Prepare and file monthly and quarterly VAT returns via the ZATCA portal in full compliance with Saudi tax regulations.
• Conduct inventory reconciliations of physical bullion and dore stock against system records, promptly addressing variances.
• Support month-end closing by preparing balance sheet reconciliations for accounts including cash, inventory, and accrued liabilities.
• Manage the fixed asset register, calculating depreciation for plant equipment, laboratory instruments, and corporate assets.
• Collaborate on audit preparation by assembling schedules and providing documentation for interim and final external audits.
• Allocate refining costs, such as chemicals and energy, accurately to production batches to support cost of goods sold reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five years' accounting experience in industrial, manufacturing, or trading environments.
• Solid knowledge of Saudi VAT rules and experience handling ZATCA filings.
• Proficient understanding of general ledger accounting, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience with inventory accounting and cost allocation methodologies.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP for financial analysis.
• Fluent in English for reporting purposes; Arabic working proficiency is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in precious metals, mining, or commodity trading industries.
• Professional accounting certifications such as SOCPA, CPA, or ACCA.
• Experience with ERP platforms like SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Knowledge of LBMA financial reporting or precious metals valuation standards.
• Expertise in fixed asset management within industrial or plant settings.

Performance Goals

• Ensure 100% on-time VAT filings with no penalties from ZATCA.
• Complete bank reconciliations within five business days after month-end.
• Maintain less than 1% general ledger reconciliation discrepancies.
• Support annual audits successfully with no significant issues in assigned areas.
• Enhance fixed asset tracking aligned with physical audits.
• Keep a completely accurate fixed asset register and depreciation calculations.
