Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for volunteer van drivers to transport children to and from OSCAR centres and schools in Blenheim, Marlborough. The vans service several schools including Blenheim School, Redwoodtown School, Springlands School, and St. Marys Community Centre.
Working Hours and Schedule
Morning shifts typically last approximately 1.5 hours, starting at 8:30 AM, to distribute children to their schools. Afternoon shifts generally range from 60 to 90 minutes, with start times varying between 2:15 PM and 2:50 PM depending on the route. These shifts occur weekdays only.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive OSCAR vans safely to pick up and drop off children before and after school sessions.
- Adhere to scheduled routes and timings to ensure punctual transportation services.
- Maintain a patient and kind demeanor to foster a positive connection with the children.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a full, clean driver's license is mandatory.
- Must be patient, kind, and able to connect comfortably with children.
- A police background check is required prior to commencement.
Additional Information
The commitment per shift is approximately 30 minutes for morning runs and between 60 to 90 minutes for afternoon runs. Volunteers may choose the number of days they wish to participate each week.
