Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to join our Oncology Transport Service team based in Somerset. This permanent role offers 35 hours per week with options for job share (28 or 35 hours). The salary is £25,541 annually pro-rated for part-time work. A full UK driving licence and vehicle access are required, with mileage reimbursed. The Coordinator will be pivotal in leading a team of volunteers who assist cancer patients by providing transport to chemotherapy and radiotherapy appointments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a small team of staff and volunteers to deliver exceptional transport services for oncology patients.
  • Spend approximately 70% of work time in the Taunton office supporting operations and volunteers.
  • Engage with partner organizations and stakeholders to promote and strengthen the service.
  • Attend promotional events aimed at expanding the volunteer base.
  • Handle administrative duties essential for daily service management.
  • Coordinate recruitment processes and onboarding for new volunteers.

Candidate Requirements

  • Prior experience supporting and managing volunteers.
  • Proficient IT skills to support operational needs.
  • Ability to enhance service quality with user-centered approaches.
  • Flexible to work varying hours as needed.
  • Diplomatic, professional, and confidential communication skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to motivate team members effectively.
  • Knowledge of Health and Social Care services.
  • Holder of a manual UK driving licence for at least two years with vehicle access.
