We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer / Vice President of Operations for an innovative robotics company focused on climate infrastructure based in Berkeley, CA. This enterprise develops advanced robotic systems designed for substantial real-world applications involving land management, infrastructure restoration, and climate resilience efforts. The company operates in a challenging tech space where products are intricate to design, manufacture, deploy, and must perform dependably under demanding conditions.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and refining the company's operational framework as it expands. Key duties include overseeing deployment strategies, customer engagement, internal operations, strategic projects, commercial rollout, and overall company development. Primary tasks involve implementing consistent operational rhythms, planning cycles, key performance indicators, and accountability mechanisms. The role demands direct collaboration with company founders and the executive leadership team to coordinate strategic initiatives that span deployment, finance, personnel management, vendor relationships, and operational infrastructure. The VP Operations will develop scalable and repeatable processes for project and field delivery, customer onboarding, and facilitate cross-functional execution. Additionally, involvement in critical functions such as recruitment, fundraising support, investor relations, and preparing board documentation is expected. Translating sophisticated physical technology into systematic commercial and deployment models will be a cornerstone of this position.

Candidate Profile

The ideal hire is an experienced operator who has contributed significantly to scaling venture-backed startups from initial launch to sustainable growth, ideally within robotics, deep-tech, hardware, climate technology, infrastructure, energy sectors, or similar fast-growing industries including aerospace, industrial automation, AI, software, IoT, logistics, fintech, or healthcare. Candidates might currently hold or have held roles such as COO, VP of Operations, Head of Operations, Chief of Staff, General Manager, or leader in business operations, strategy, or adjacent founding teams. Prior exposure to evolving an organization through ambiguous early stages into repeatable and disciplined execution frameworks—building teams, metrics, commercial strategies, and cross-department integrations—is essential.
