Role Overview
Join the Stead House Distribution Centre in Darlington as a Transport Operator for the morning shift (6am to 2pm) with potential flexibility for other shifts. This position typically follows a 5/7 working pattern requiring regular weekend shifts and some lone working.

Key Responsibilities
- Distribute accurate delivery instructions to drivers and debrief them following trips, providing feedback to relevant departments.
- Efficiently utilize all allocated resources to optimize operations.
- Collaborate closely with warehouse operations to ensure smooth loading and dispatch processes.
- Communicate with the planning team and supply necessary information and suggestions.
- Offer constructive performance and behavior feedback to driver management.
- Maintain vehicles and trailers within scheduled service timelines, arranging maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Accurately execute administrative procedures and support KPI tracking.
- Serve as the first point of contact for stores regarding schedule changes or daily issues.
- Conduct effective shift handovers to incoming personnel.
- Foster a positive and cooperative environment within the Distribution Centre and broader business.
- Provide support to colleagues, Team Leaders, and Transport Manager as necessary.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in a transport setting, including driver management, is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Sound knowledge of cost accountability principles.
- Excellent communication skills.

- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
- Experience with customer-facing interactions.
