Role Overview
As a Therapy Aide at Methodist Welfare Services in Singapore, you will support Occupational and Physiotherapy services across diverse care environments. Operating under the supervision and guidance of therapists and therapy associates, you will actively contribute to patient care and therapy operations.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Deliver effective support in Occupational and Physiotherapy treatments to clients under therapist direction.
- Organize and prepare therapy materials and equipment needed for sessions.
- Carry out therapy treatments as directed, ensuring adherence to instructions.
- Supervise clients during prescribed exercises and therapeutic activities.
- Communicate important session updates and observations promptly to therapists.
- Keep detailed and accurate records of client progress and therapy documentation.
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques as advised by therapists.
- Lead basic group therapy sessions such as community gym programs and adaptive sports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care delivery.
Education and Professional Development
- Take full responsibility for executing personal training plans and pursue continuous professional growth.
- Engage in departmental training sessions and external courses to enhance competencies.
- Participate actively in research and quality improvement projects to support better care outcomes.
Administrative and Operational Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within therapy spaces.
- Comply with infection control procedures consistently.
- Assist patients in scheduling appointments and perform related administrative tasks as needed.
- Manage therapy equipment inventories and ensure availability of necessary resources.
- Contribute ideas during team meetings aimed at improving resident care quality.
- Identify issues in operations or clinical workflows and propose improvements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Carry out any further tasks delegated by therapists to support departmental functions.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Possess relevant certification or qualification specific to therapy support roles.
- Certification from HMI Institute is a beneficial advantage.
- Experience in intermediate or long-term care settings, particularly with elderly or persons with disabilities, is highly favored.
- Basic computer literacy including Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Physical capability to perform manual handling and safely assist clients.
- Strong collaborator able to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently with minimal supervision and prioritize workload efficiently.
