About the Role and Organization

KPMG is an international network of independent firms providing Audit, Tax, and Advisory services globally. Operating under the brand name "KPMG," these member firms collectively serve clients across 138 countries with a workforce exceeding 276,000 professionals. Each member firm operates as a separate legal entity responsible for its liabilities and obligations. KPMG in the Caribbean Community (Caricom) is inviting applications for an energetic and driven Tax Assistant Manager to join their team in Kingston, Jamaica.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations for tax compliance and advisory projects serving multiple clients spanning various industries.
  • Prepare and scrutinize corporate tax returns, tax computations, deferred tax analyses, VAT submissions, withholding tax reports, and other mandatory tax filings.
  • Contribute to drafting and reviewing technical tax opinions, advisory documents, and client correspondence.
  • Conduct research on domestic, regional, and international tax laws to advise practical solutions for tax issues.
  • Assist in advisory projects including corporate restructurings, acquisitions, tax planning, transfer pricing, and cross-border transactions.
  • Engage with tax authorities such as the Board of Inland Revenue related to assessments, audits, objections, clearances, and compliance efforts.
  • Support audit teams reviewing corporate tax provisions, deferred taxes, and related disclosures within financial statements.
  • Track changes in legislation and regulations, communicating relevant impacts to teams and clients.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients regarding engagement status, requests for information, deliverables, and pending issues.
  • Develop budget plans for engagements and monitor progress against timelines and financial targets.
  • Manage work-in-progress records, assist in billing procedures, and follow up on overdue client payments as needed.
  • Ensure all engagement documents conform to KPMG’s quality, risk management, and documentation standards.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency in service delivery.
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and technical support to junior staff members.
  • Review and give constructive feedback on work performed by associates.
  • Contribute to training programs and support the development of junior team members.
  • Participate in client proposals, presentations, and business growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate across Tax, Audit, Advisory, and regional KPMG offices to deliver comprehensive client solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, or an equivalent credential.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Taxation is advantageous.
  • Experience of four to six years in tax compliance and advisory within a professional services setting.
  • Prior experience with a Big Four or international professional service firm is preferred.
