Overview

The Stockperson / Cart Pusher plays a critical role in facilitating a secure, organized, and inviting shopping experience at the store. Responsibilities include retrieving shopping carts from outside and inside the parking areas and returning them to their proper storage locations using approved methods. By engaging courteously with customers and prioritizing safety, this position helps maintain efficient store operations while developing valuable retail, teamwork, and customer service skills.

Core Duties

• Gather shopping carts from cart corrals, parking lots, and areas around the store and return them safely to designated storage zones following Walmart's prescribed protocols. Complete all required documentation accurately.
• Address customer and store requests promptly, including aiding customers with carrying out or carrying in purchases and verifying receipts when necessary.
• Conduct periodic cleaning and maintenance tasks such as restroom upkeep, adherent to safety guidelines for chemical use, disposal procedures, and proper operation of power equipment. Perform equipment inspections before use as required.
• Comply with all safety rules and emergency procedures, including handling hazardous materials, lockout/tagout processes, and bloodborne pathogen protocols to ensure safety for customers and coworkers.
• Maintain a hazard-free work environment by wearing necessary personal protective gear like steel-toe footwear and reflective vests, performing safety inspections, and following company policies.
• Demonstrate flexibility by working various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate, ensuring consistent high-quality customer service and smooth operations.

Challenges in Role

• Manage a fast-paced workload involving high volumes of restocking and recovery tasks completed accurately and on schedule.
• Effectively handle overnight and varied work hours to sustain energy and focus throughout shifts.
• Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Carry out repetitive duties including product stocking and zoning with attention to detail to maintain store standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this role is $17.75.
