Software Engineer - Systems Technology

About the Role

Starbucks is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team in Seattle, WA, focusing on delivering reliable and secure technologies that enable seamless software development and operations. This role involves supporting installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of engineering infrastructures while embodying Starbucks' core principles of connection and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate rapid and dependable software delivery by assisting development teams, troubleshooting issues, and enhancing build and release workflows.
• Enhance system reliability and observability through implementing monitoring solutions, telemetry, and providing high-availability operational support with automation.
• Maintain secure and compliant system foundations by applying security technologies, managing secure configurations, and ensuring adherence to policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• 0 to 4 years of professional experience in software development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Preferred: At least 1 year experience in systems or network administration, production operations, and on-call incident response.
• Preferred: One year or more of coding/scripting for automation in languages such as Python, Java, Go, C/C++, Ruby, or Perl with strong debugging capabilities.
• Preferred: Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud platforms and experience with CI/CD or build/release automation tools.
• Working knowledge of distributed systems, TCP/IP networking (including DNS and routing), and database technology (SQL/NoSQL).

Compensation packages are based on multiple factors such as skills, experience, location, and internal equity, typically not starting at the upper salary range. The position requires onsite presence four days a week to foster team collaboration.
