Role Summary

As a Software Engineer within GE Aerospace Technology & Operations, you will contribute to developing and deploying cutting-edge AI and data-driven solutions for complex engineering challenges. This role involves owning projects from architecture through to production, creating scalable, maintainable software that supports engineering teams company-wide.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver production-ready applications, including those powered by large language models, machine learning, and APIs to enhance engineering capabilities.
• Provide architectural consultation and implement solutions for critical business analytics and AI projects.
• Manage features through the complete lifecycle, encompassing design, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support to achieve impactful business outcomes.
• Communicate product designs, write clear, high-quality code, engage in reviews, and demonstrate progress to peers and leadership.
• Utilize the Innovator Method and lead design thinking activities to translate customer insights into valuable solutions.
• Apply skills in cloud computing, databases, web technologies, and numerical analysis while staying informed about advancements in AI and agentic architectures.
• Collaborate extensively with team members and across departments to promote knowledge sharing and cross-functional success.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
• Up to two years of experience in software engineering, data science, or AI, including internships or co-ops.
• Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, C++, Go, or Rust and debugging skills.
• Experience working with SQL and database systems.
• Practical experience in machine learning, large language models, or computer vision.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure for solution deployment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong academic record.
• Experience designing AI architectures and distributed data systems.
• Knowledge of LLM application methods such as retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, vector databases, and evaluation techniques.
• Proficiency in building RESTful APIs using frameworks like FastAPI or Flask and packaging AI models for reuse.
• Understanding of MLOps tools and best practices including experiment tracking, model registries, automated pipelines, and monitoring.
• Ability to conduct design thinking workshops with a customer-focused mindset.
• Previous internship or project experience related to software engineering, data science, or AI; prior GE Aerospace internship experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with modern software engineering workflows including version control, continuous integration/deployment, containerization, and agile methods.
• Certifications in AWS and/or Azure are desirable.
