Social Community Manager

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Social Listener and Community Manager specializing in Reddit and organic social platforms for a remote freelance role based in any US time zone. The assignment lasts at least six months, requiring a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, with compensation between $40 and $50 per hour. The preferred start date is mid-July.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow communities across Reddit (including owned subreddits) and organic social channels such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
• Devote roughly 40% of your time actively engaging with Reddit communities, alongside maintaining a deep presence on Meta platforms, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Participate in brand, competitor, and topical conversations in these online spaces while maintaining community standards, rules, and reputation.
• Identify and escalate high-risk or sensitive discussions appropriately.
• Use social listening tools like Sprinklr to monitor 10-15 key subreddits and other channels, detect shifts in sentiment, emerging trends, and track engagement metrics.
• Generate weekly reports for leadership covering trending subjects, sentiment analysis, competitor movements, and opportunities for brand engagement optimization.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Brand, Content Strategy, and Marketing teams, as well as other stakeholders such as ambassadors and legal advisors.
• Lead the development of community management best practices and guardrails within an evolving and rapidly changing environment, especially managing the volatility of Reddit.

Required Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in social or community management.
• Proficiency with Reddit, including a strong grasp of subreddit culture and dynamics.
• Experience utilizing social listening platforms such as Sprinklr.
• Excellent writing capabilities with a natural, sincere voice that avoids promotional language.
• Strong analytical skills to identify and communicate trends and community insights.
• Capability to manage ambiguous situations and sensitive community escalations.

Preferred Background

• Prior work in regulated sectors such as healthcare or higher education.
• Knowledge of AI-generated content implications, specifically how Reddit discussions influence AI responses.
• Experience managing ambassador or contributor programs.
