Shift Electrical Engineer / Supervisor

About the Role

This position is a statutory shift role under CMR 2017 Regulation 32. The incumbent will oversee the installation, operation, and upkeep of electrical systems, HEMM, and mechanical equipment, along with underground material-handling systems such as conveyors, CHP, SDL/LHD, haulage, and road headers. The role also includes coordinating site maintenance teams, ensuring strong control over lifting activities, supporting arrangements, machine guarding, and energy isolation practices.

The position carries responsibility for maintenance cost tracking, monthly forecasting, variance review, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, including the correction of DGMS observations and violations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute electrical and instrumentation work across opencast and underground coal mining facilities.
• Ensure adherence to Indian Electricity Rules, DGMS norms, and other applicable statutory requirements.
• Maintain high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical systems, along with related switchgear.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports, returns, and registers within required timelines to the relevant government departments.
• Track and report MIS covering availability, utilization, breakdowns, and specific consumption trends.
• Support shift-level mining operations while maintaining safety compliance.

Technical and Functional Requirements

• Strong capability in administrative support, documentation, and record keeping.
• Ability to handle incident response and investigation activities.
• Experience in operational coordination and process improvement.
• Exposure to project management and quality assurance practices.
• Ability to manage trainings, implement training programs, and support course delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent electrical specialization.
• Total work experience of 3 to 7 years.
• At least 1 year of experience in underground coal mines.
• Preferred background of 1 to 3 years in coal operations, especially underground coal mines.
• Experience in MNCs, Indian corporates, conglomerates, large-scale, SME, listed, high-growth, stable, or process-driven coal mining environments is relevant.

Eligibility

Candidates with a diploma in any specialization are mentioned as eligible, with preference for electrical and mining operations experience relevant to coal mine shift work.

The role is centered on underground coal mining operations and maintenance, with responsibility for electrical supervision and safe shift execution.

Statutory and Compliance Notes
