Role Overview
Are you passionate about electricity, mechanics, and hydraulics? Become a key player in maintaining wind turbines and contribute to the global shift towards renewable energy. As a Service Technician at Vestas, you will apply your electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic expertise within one of the leading sustainable energy companies worldwide. Vestas offers extensive technical training to ensure you become highly skilled in the industry, all while prioritizing safety in daily operations.
Work Locations and Hours
- Role based across regional areas in Australia (non-FIFO). Locations include WA (Merredin, Jurian Bay, Geraldton), SA (Port Augusta/Whyalla, Millicent/Mt Gambier), VIC (Warnambool, Ballarat, Sale), NSW (Canberra/Goulburn, Inverall/Glen Innes), QLD (Hughenden, Chinchilla/Dulacca, Atherton), and TAS (Musselroe, Granville Harbour).
- Standard working hours of 8 hours per day with on-call duties approximately once every 3-4 weeks on weekends.
- Travel commitment of around 50 days per year.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to top safety and environmental protocols while meeting service targets.
- Perform scheduled inspections and replacements of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components as per Vestas standards.
- Ensure uninterrupted turbine operation using condition monitoring and remote control systems.
- Manage service vehicle and inventory by ordering materials, tools, and spare parts as required.
- Assemble and service components following current guidelines, utilizing cranes if needed.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- Trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic fields with a motivation to further develop your skills.
- Proficient computer skills and experience with monitoring tools and documentation systems.
- Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Strong dedication to health and safety standards.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks at height and under varied weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel between sites when necessary.
- Team-oriented with effective communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
- Independent, well-organized, and solution-driven work approach.
