Role overview
Vestas is seeking a Service Technician to support the upkeep and performance of wind turbines across regional Australia. This role is suited to someone with a background or strong interest in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic work who wants to help advance renewable energy generation. The position sits within a service team focused on delivering high-quality maintenance and operational support for wind farms.
The company places strong emphasis on safety in every part of the workday and provides technical training so technicians can build advanced capability in the field. You will be joining a global renewable energy business with opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues and contribute to large-scale sustainable energy operations.
Work location and travel
This role is based across regional Australia and is not a fly-in fly-out arrangement, so candidates must already be located in the relevant region.
- Western Australia: Merredin, Jurien Bay, Geraldton
- South Australia: Port Augusta/Whyalla, Millicent/Mt Gambier
- Victoria: Warrnambool, Ballarat, Sale
- New South Wales: Canberra/Goulburn, Inverell/Glen Innes
- Queensland: Hughenden, Chinchilla/Dulacca, Atherton
- Tasmania: Musselroe, Granville Harbour
Standard working time is 8 hours per day, with weekend on-call duty about once every 3 to 4 weeks. The role also involves around 50 travel days per year.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and environmental care while delivering service targets.
- Perform scheduled inspections in line with Vestas specifications.
- Replace and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
- Support efficient turbine operation through condition monitoring and remote-control systems.
- Keep the service vehicle and warehouse supplies in order by arranging materials, tools, and spare parts as required.
- Assemble and service components according to current standards and work instructions, including use of internal or external cranes when necessary.
Required qualifications and skills
Applicants should have a trade background in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic disciplines and a strong desire to continue developing within those fields. Good computer literacy is important, along with comfort using different tools and systems for work tracking and documentation. Strong written and spoken English and a valid driver’s licence are also required.
