Role Overview
As a Sensors Engineering Supervisor for the front night shift within the Sensor Engineering organization, reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership and oversee the work of equipment technicians during your shift. Your duties will include managing technicians and their tasks, ensuring equipment and line performance meet specific maintenance KPIs, and supporting cross-functional teams to sustain optimal operational conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of equipment technicians on shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality task execution.
- Monitor and review Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities logged in the Maximo system.
- Assign preventative maintenance jobs and supervise corrective maintenance work.
- Approve technicians' time and attendance records as needed.
- Manage projects such as equipment assembly, layout changes, and validation report completions.
- Provide monthly individual performance reviews to each technician.
- Facilitate or lead ongoing training for technicians to maintain skill proficiency and promote professional growth.
- Collaborate closely with the Production Supervisor to ensure shift operations run smoothly.
- Step in with hands-on support during escalations or critical situations requiring immediate decisions.
- Track and report departmental KPIs including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Yield, and other equipment performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, including strict adherence to the Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) protocol and other safety standards.
- Work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to support equipment maintenance, deployment, and improvement initiatives.
- Keep all equipment documentation current, including manuals, drawings, and specifications.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A Level 7 or 8 qualification is typically required, along with 5-8 years of relevant experience.
- Proven supervisory experience in a similar engineering or maintenance role is essential.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical and scientific documents related to equipment specs.
- Proficiency in writing routine and shift reports as well as correspondence.
- Effective communication skills for presenting information and interacting with supervisors, engineers, and management.
- Hands-on knowledge with PLCs, automated production/process equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, electro/mechanical systems, resistance welders, and packaging machinery is highly desirable.
- Experience leading process improvement projects such as enhancing yields and minimizing downtime.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Familiarity with high reliability and high volume manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Technical writing skills related to manufacturing documentation and process development.
