Senior Manager Strategic Sourcing

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our team in Toronto, Ontario, on a long-term contractual basis. This role involves leading complex sourcing initiatives, reinforcing supplier partnerships, and guiding data-driven commercial decisions across the enterprise. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders from business, technology, legal, and risk departments to design procurement strategies that enhance value, mitigate risks, and align with organizational priorities. This role suits a proactive sourcing expert comfortable in a regulated environment, equipped with strong contract and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the entire sourcing lifecycle for high-value categories, covering opportunity identification, market analysis, supplier evaluation, negotiations, and final supplier selections.
• Develop and execute category strategies that optimize cost efficiency, service quality, risk management, and align with wider business goals.
• Conduct competitive procurement processes by setting selection criteria, coordinating evaluations, and presenting well-founded recommendations to executive decision-makers.
• Draft, review, and enhance commercial contracts to secure protective terms and ensure organizational compliance.
• Negotiate major supplier contracts focusing on commercial benefit, operational feasibility, and risk-informed decisions.
• Provide strategic advice to upper management by outlining sourcing strategies, assessing supplier choices, and clarifying trade-offs involved in key procurement decisions.
• Oversee vendor onboarding, due diligence, and third-party risk and contract assessments as integral parts of sourcing management.
• Uncover cost savings and added value opportunities within supplier relationships and track benefits realized during contract periods.
• Help strengthen sourcing capabilities by mentoring team members and advocating for robust negotiation techniques and continuous process improvement.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related fields, or an equivalent blend of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, contract negotiation, or vendor management, preferably in senior roles.
• Proven expertise in managing complex sourcing projects and negotiating contracts with substantial commercial impact.
• Comprehensive knowledge of procurement strategies, total cost of ownership concepts, and supplier risk evaluation.
• Ability to establish trust and work collaboratively with senior leaders in business, legal, technology, and risk units.
• Experience in financial services or other regulated sectors is advantageous.
• MBA or other advanced business qualifications are considered a plus.
• Familiarity with global strategic sourcing and procurement best practices.
