About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team dedicated to government contracts. As part of our innovative company, you will collaborate with motivated professionals focused on leveraging cutting-edge technology to address complex government challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft complex technical legal documents such as indictments, arrest warrants, motions, and plea agreements, ensuring compliance with local court rules and formatting standards.
  • Examine incoming case material to assess case status and relevant details.
  • Gather necessary information from criminal files and law enforcement sources to complete legal documents for attorney review.
  • Support trial preparation by creating trial and witness notebooks, organizing exhibits, assembling jury instructions, and compiling lists of witnesses and evidence.
  • Coordinate with victim/witness specialists to uphold departmental guidelines concerning victim rights and communication.
  • Use legal research tools like Westlaw and Lexis/Nexis to verify citations and statutory references, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Proofread, edit, and revise legal briefs and handle electronic filing of legal documents with the U.S. District Court via CM/ECF system.
  • Draft original legal correspondence requiring specialized legal knowledge and terminology.
  • Manage discovery databases by uploading, linking, and organizing varied investigative materials received from multiple law enforcement agencies.
  • Conduct discovery processing and production including bates-stamping and redacting documents using Adobe Acrobat and potentially IPRO Eclipse software.
  • Maintain electronic case files, update case management systems, manage calendars and case deadlines, and handle related administrative paperwork.

Required Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification, Juris Doctor degree, or at least one year completed in an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Minimum two years of litigation paralegal experience, with trial experience being advantageous.
  • At least one year working with automated litigation support systems and knowledge of federal and state court processes.
  • Strong skills in legal research platforms (LEXIS, Westlaw) and excellent command of written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with various software applications including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging systems.
  • Practical experience with eDiscovery tools and procedures.
  • Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines and pressure.
