Overview

Join a crucial financial role where you will oversee statutory financial reporting for a global technology leader, Amazon Web Services, and their satellite broadband venture. This role involves managing statutory compliance and the preparation of financial statements, impacting how financial performance is reported across various regions. You will collaborate closely with global teams, contributing to accurate and transparent financial disclosures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute month-end statutory close journal entries with comprehensive supporting schedules, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Lead the preparation of interim and annual statutory financial statements for multiple legal entities, applying the correct accounting frameworks.
  • Manage the statutory filing processes across regions, overseeing deadlines and regulatory adherence.
  • Assist with external audits by supplying requested documentation and serving as liaison between internal teams and auditors.
  • Evaluate intricate business transactions and formulate technical accounting position papers to ascertain proper accounting treatments.

Typical Workday

Your daily activities will include reviewing month-end close requirements, preparing statutory financial statements, coordinating audit efforts, performing technical accounting analysis, and ensuring regulatory filings are completed accurately and timely. The role requires collaboration with finance stakeholders in many time zones, aligning accounting treatments and financial compliance across international operations.

Team Background

You will join the Finance and Global Business Services group supporting AWS and the satellite internet initiative dedicated to providing broadband access globally. This team prioritizes accuracy, regulatory compliance, and transparent financial reporting, embracing diverse viewpoints and teamwork to maintain high standards.

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, information systems, or a similar field.
  • Experience engaging with varied stakeholders at different organizational levels.
  • Solid foundation in audit and technical accounting gained ideally from a Big Four firm or a multinational company.
  • Certified accountant titles such as ACA, CPA, ACCA or equivalents preferred.

Desired Skills

  • In-depth understanding of IFRS and other accounting frameworks.
  • Strong organizational abilities coupled with proficiency in information technology.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
