About the Role and Organization

IJM Ghana collaborates with local government bodies to combat human trafficking through victim rescue, perpetrator prosecution, survivor restoration, and systemic improvements for protecting vulnerable populations.
This Security Driver position, based in Kumasi, Ghana, supports IJM's mission by providing safe, reliable driving and logistical services to staff, partners, and stakeholders. This full-time role demands frequent travel within different Ghanaian regions while ensuring vehicle upkeep, adherence to safety protocols, and assisting with logistical coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver professional driving services to IJM staff and partners engaged in various project regions aligned with IJM's theory of change.
- Manage transportation for grant-related trips and meetings.
- Maintain the assigned vehicles in excellent operational condition, ensuring responsible use reflecting good stewardship.
- Uphold IJM's core values and spiritual practices throughout all duties.
- Prepare detailed monthly logs documenting vehicle usage and condition.
- Promptly inform the Safety & Security Manager of any vehicle damages or mechanical issues.
- Support the Safety & Security Manager in reviewing and updating transportation policies and procedures when necessary.
- Provide transportation services for authorized personnel to and from assignments.
- Assist grant teams and other departments with logistical preparation and support during trips.
- Contribute to general office upkeep alongside the Administration department as required.
- Keep accurate records of vehicle use, condition, and fuel consumption.
- Welcome and assist international guests at airports and accommodations.
- Comply strictly with traffic laws and licensing requirements.
- Follow proper protocols in the event of vehicle accidents or incidents.
- Ensure vehicles are clean and orderly after trips before parking.
- Manage IJM resources responsibly, including careful control and refueling of vehicles at minimum fuel thresholds.
- Park vehicles securely to reduce risks of damage or theft to staff and property.
Candidate Qualifications
- Educational background: minimum Senior High School Certificate (SHS), Diploma, Higher National Diploma (HND), or a degree from an accredited technical institute or university.
- Certified training completed in defensive driving techniques.
- Possession of a valid Class C (or higher) driver's license.
- Resident in Kumasi with legal work authorization in Ghana.
- Basic computer proficiency, preferably with skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- At least five years of experience driving pickup trucks, SUVs, or vans.
- Comprehensive understanding of traffic laws, city street layouts, and navigation tools, including GPS.
- Ability to maintain vehicle upkeep while ensuring passenger safety.
- Experience preparing and managing vehicle logbooks accurately.
