Role Overview
As a Sanitation Technician working the night shift, you will report to the Team Lead or Supervisor and be responsible for advanced cleaning duties essential for maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards. Your role includes disassembling and reassembling production equipment, ensuring compliance with sanitation schedules, and supporting team members to uphold a safe, audit-ready environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble production machinery following standard operating procedures.
- Perform detailed cleaning in difficult and high-risk areas with precision.
- Adhere strictly to the Master Sanitation Schedule for timely completion of sanitation tasks.
- Carry out or assist with ATP swab testing to confirm cleaning effectiveness.
- Prepare and safely apply chemical cleaning agents as specified.
- Operate industrial cleaning apparatus such as high-pressure washers, foamers, and floor scrubbers.
- Identify and report any equipment damage or sanitation hazards to leadership or maintenance teams.
- Accurately complete sanitation documentation, including checklists and logs.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, HACCP, and WHMIS standards.
- Participate in audit processes, both internal and external.
- Support and train Sanitation Associates in correct cleaning methods and safety protocols.
- Assist with workflow organization during peak sanitation times.
- Perform additional duties supporting overall production operations as required, emphasizing teamwork and plant care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background required.
- Certification in HACCP and WHMIS is essential, with willingness to acquire if not currently certified.
- Additional certification in GMP or Food Safety is advantageous.
- One to two years of experience in sanitation within regulated industries such as food manufacturing or pharmaceuticals.
- Experience in dismantling equipment and utilizing industrial cleaning techniques.
- Familiarity with ATP testing, sanitation documentation, and SSOPs.
- Strong knowledge of chemical safety and proper PPE practices.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow complex cleaning instructions and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Basic computer competencies, especially with Excel and Outlook, are a plus.
- Physical capability to lift and handle 40–50 lbs routinely and work in diverse environmental conditions using full PPE.
- Flexibility to work graveyard shifts from 9:00 pm to 5:30 am, including occasional weekends and holidays.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing.
- Use of hands for cleaning equipment operation and computer reporting.
- Exposure to wet, noisy, hot, cold, and dusty conditions.
- Mandatory full personal protective equipment (PPE) usage at all times.

Shift Details
This is a night shift position with hours from 9:00 pm to 5:30 am and will require onsite presence at the Delta, British Columbia facility.
