Job overview
QatarEnergy LNG is planning a recruitment drive in India in the later part of 2026. Only applicants who make the shortlist will be invited to attend a face-to-face interview; walk-in participation will not be considered.
Purpose of the role
This position exists to provide technical assistance that supports the safe running and upkeep of rotating equipment across company onshore facilities, RLTO, and the refinery. The scope covers gas turbines, compressors, and pumps.
Key responsibilities
- Support the maintenance team with troubleshooting and repair work for rotating equipment used in LNG plant operations, and help prepare responses after critical equipment issues.
- Coordinate the planning and execution of both scheduled and unscheduled major maintenance jobs during shutdowns, including work on gas turbines, steam turbines, and compressors.
- Work closely with shutdown planning and other department teams to review material reservations, schedules, pre-shutdown tasks, and checks for tools and spare parts.
- Monitor quality across planned maintenance work for gas turbine and compressor mechanical jobs, including refurbishment activities carried out at OEM workshops.
- Track gas turbine mechanical work closely, liaise with asset teams and GE CSA teams, and prepare documents such as job cards, JSA documents, and quality checklists for turbine and compressor tasks.
- Review the availability of spares for critical equipment, advise the materials team on shortages and stocking needs, and flag obsolete systems early so EMOCs can be raised for upgrades.
- Initiate EMOCs for upgrades driven by failures, bad actor programmes, or RCFA findings, and support MOC feasibility studies with relevant system input.
- Take part in RCFA, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies by supplying the data and technical information needed for analysis.
- Help build technical capability by training and coaching mechanical technicians and Qatari National Developees on rotating equipment topics.
- Oversee the repair and refurbishment of critical rotating equipment parts such as rotors, DGS, seals, and bearings, while coordinating with multiple teams to ensure timely completion.
- Assist the Lead Engineer with initiatives including contract preparation, roadmap execution, and innovation-related activities.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science with a Mechanical Engineering major is required.
The role calls for at least 4 years of experience in the oil and gas sector or petrochemical industry, along with hands-on exposure to major overhauls and troubleshooting of rotating equipment.
Applicants should have solid knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, and pump auxiliary systems, and be familiar with the standards and specifications used by the company as well as national and international bodies.
Working knowledge of SAP is also required.
Skills and business capabilities
The candidate must be fluent in English, both spoken and written, and should be computer-literate with the ability to use a range of engineering software tools.
