Job Overview
The Retail Designer role at American Eagle encompasses supporting the conception and implementation of new retail locations as well as refurbishments. Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to designing and executing new retail areas, remodels, and refurbishments.
- Formulate design solutions consistent with brand identity, customer engagement, and operational guidelines.
- Create presentations, design explorations, renderings, plus supporting documents for internal and external design assessments.
- Develop and coordinate design development packages including plans, fixture arrangements, elevations, and specific project details.
- Participate in reviewing potential retail spaces by crafting feasibility reports, analyzing site data, and drafting preliminary spatial plans to aid real estate selections.
- Analyze landlord requirements, lease conditions, and site documents to detect design constraints and possibilities during feasibility evaluations.
- Collaborate with internal groups like Real Estate, Construction, Store Operations, and Visual Merchandising along feasibility and implementation phases.
- Verify consultant submissions throughout design stages to ensure conformance with brand standards and design intentions.
- Monitor project deadlines, document revisions, approvals, and pending tasks to guarantee timely project completion.
- Conduct site inspections and assist with punch-list processes as needed.
- Maintain prototype archives, material finish libraries, and design guidelines to uphold consistency across projects.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Environmental Design, or a related discipline is required.
- Three to four years of demonstrated experience in Retail Design, Store Planning, Architecture, or similar fields is necessary.
- Competent in AutoCAD (current version), SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering tools.
- Understanding of architectural drawings, space planning, and construction documentation is essential.
- General knowledge of building codes, retail construction methods, and project management.
- Ability to interpret landlord requirements and architectural plans effectively.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Adeptness at managing multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced setting.
- Self-driven with meticulous attention to details and dependable follow-through.
- Capable of fostering collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience with international retail or franchise projects is advantageous but not mandatory.
